Did you know that the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market is one of the few farmers markets in the Cedar Valley that offers Double Up Bucks! That is what makes our market unique and also offers a great volunteer opportunity for you!

The market is open rain or shine. Volunteers should expect to work in various outdoor weather conditions.

We do ask that volunteers be 18 years old to volunteer on their own. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers should have the ability to walk, stand, or be stationary for the duration of their shift
Three different roles for you to choose from!
Market Set Up
Primary responsibilities include opening up expo plaza entrances, unloading supplies from market trailer, setting up market info tent, signage, and other supplies, using expo plaza map to direct vendors to their stalls.

Volunteers should have the ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 lbs

This volunteer shift is from 6:00 am - 8:00 am.

Info Tent (2 different shift times)
Primary responsibilities include greeting market customers, answer market related questions as they arise, tracking attendance, and processing EBT and Double Up Food Bucks transactions.

There are two shift options, 7:30 am to 10:30 am and 10:30 am-12:30 pm.

There is an information video we encourage volunteers who choose this shift to watch prior to volunteering to learn more about how the Double Up Food Bucks program works. We will also train on site!

Market Tear down
Primary responsibilities include clean up in the expo plaza, loading supplies in the market trailer, tearing down market tents, signage, and other supplies. When needed helping vendors with tear down.
